Terms of Use
The short version
- Monthbee helps you keep track of your spending. It isn't financial, tax or accounting advice.
- AI reads your receipts and can make mistakes. Check anything that matters.
- Paid plans are billed and renewed by Apple or Google, and you cancel there.
- Your data stays yours. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the independent developer who builds and runs Monthbee ("the Monthbee developer", "we", "us"). They cover the Monthbee app for iOS and Android, Monthbee Plus and monthbee.com (together, "Monthbee"). By creating an account or using Monthbee, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Monthbee.
You need to be at least 13, or the minimum age for digital services where you live, and able to enter into this agreement.
2. What Monthbee does
Monthbee turns receipts, links, notes and (soon) bank and card statements into a list of expenses, sorts them into categories and shows monthly totals. We may add, change or remove features over time. During the beta, some features are unfinished and Monthbee may be unavailable at times.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Apple (and, soon, with Google). Keep your Apple or Google account secure; you're responsible for what happens in Monthbee under your account.
- Tell us at f.trukhan@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.
4. Your content
- Receipts, statements, notes and anything else you add ("your content") remain yours.
- You give us permission to store, copy and process your content only to run Monthbee for you. This includes sending it to the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy to read it.
- Only add content you have the right to use. Avoid adding other people's personal information beyond what's printed on your own receipts and statements.
5. AI can be wrong
Monthbee uses AI models to read receipts, links, statements and notes, to pick categories and to match records. The results are often right, but not always: amounts, dates, currencies, stores, categories and exchange rates can be wrong or missing. Monthbee flags receipts it isn't sure about, but it can't catch every mistake.
Monthbee is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, and it isn't an official record. Check the original receipts and statements before relying on Monthbee for taxes, expense claims, budgets or other decisions, and ask a qualified professional when you need advice.
6. Monthbee Plus and payments
Monthbee Plus is free during the beta. When paid plans become available:
- You buy Monthbee Plus through the App Store or Google Play, and they charge the payment method on your account there. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before that.
- To cancel, go to your Apple ID subscriptions in iPhone Settings, or to Subscriptions in the Google Play app. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. After you cancel, Plus keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue them ourselves.
- If we change the price, Apple or Google will tell you in advance, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
7. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- break the law, or use Monthbee for fraud, such as fake receipts or false expense claims;
- upload malware, or content you aren't allowed to share;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or into our systems;
- overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, scrape it, or get around its limits, including the daily and monthly limits on AI reading;
- resell Monthbee, or use it to build a competing service.
8. Our rights
Monthbee, its design, code, name and logo belong to the Monthbee developer. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app for your own expense tracking while these terms apply.
9. Other services
Monthbee relies on Apple, Google, AI providers, hosting providers and exchange-rate sources. Their services have their own terms, and we aren't responsible for them. Links in your receipts open pages run by other people.
10. Ending your use
- You can stop using Monthbee at any time and ask us to delete your account, as described in the Privacy Policy. Remember to cancel any subscription with Apple or Google too.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or puts other people or the service at risk. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.
- If we ever shut Monthbee down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice in the app.
11. Disclaimer
Monthbee is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, including that Monthbee will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Please keep your own copies of receipts and statements you need. Monthbee isn't a backup or archive service.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the Monthbee developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, tax penalties or decisions you make based on Monthbee. Our total liability for any claim about Monthbee is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Monthbee in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
13. If you use the iOS app
- These terms are between you and the Monthbee developer, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Monthbee or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Monthbee.
- If the app doesn't meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple isn't responsible for claims about the app, such as product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. We are, to the extent these terms say so.
- You confirm you aren't in a country under a US government embargo and aren't on a US list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
14. General
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Monthbee after that, the new terms apply.
- If one part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer these terms to someone else. We may transfer them if Monthbee moves to a new owner, who must then honor them and the Privacy Policy.
